Reflection for the October 2021
29th October
On Friday in the 3rd and 4th period I
was having a video lesson on the subject social studies; ”roles of family
members”. The lesson was wow and children enjoyed a lot. I prepared the slides
and presented each to the class. This lesson was presented in the class slide
by slide. This lesson was also presented in the Camtasia. Before I made video lesson
in Camtasia, I have taught it in the classroom as well. The lesson was
enjoyable. Sometimes it’s beneficial to use digital instead of writing on the
chalkboard.
Advantages
Today’s children are more digital than using chalk,
chalkboard and textbook. They love once the computers and projectors are
brought to the class. It changes their mood and facial expression. They love to
watch in the laptop and you tube. They were asked the family members at home.
When they name the members one by one, I also showed from the laptop that I
have listed. Then they were asked the role of each family member at home. I
asked what their father’s, mother’s, sister’s/brother’s work at home. I gave
chance to express their feeling to each child. I made everyone to tell the role
of their family members. Then I have presented my written work from the laptop.
I showed them what I have written. They enjoyed the slides and were alert to
see the typed sentences where they were quite fed up with writing on the chalk
board.
Dis-advantages
As every coin has two sides there are disadvantages where
there is advantages. The use of ict in the classroom lesson was interesting but
there is also bad of it. I found that when I was presenting the lesson from
laptop, few children were talking more of the digitals. Some children were
carrying away by imagination. Their attention was towards other side when the presentation
was going on. The common dis-advantage was collecting the materials for video
lesson. Sometimes short of projector and sometime the lesson consume the time
due to poor handling of digitals by the teacher as teachers are not trained on
it.
Thank you
